Generator Integration with Solar and Batteries

How generators can work with inverters, batteries and solar in an automated microgrid.

Microgrids Technical Guide

Engineering basis

A stable microgrid needs one clearly defined grid-forming source at each operating state. Generator rating, minimum loading, frequency response, voltage regulation and step-load behaviour must suit the inverter and charger strategy.

Design and verification requirements

Program start state-of-charge, stop state-of-charge, warm-up, cool-down, maximum charge current, load shedding and retry logic. Acceptance testing should include loss of grid, black start, generator start/stop, load steps, recharge, transfer, alarm and recovery scenarios.

MicroSec technical workflow

  1. Confirm the client objective and operating modes.
  2. Measure and document the site conditions and load profile.
  3. Complete the electrical and energy design.
  4. Install to approved drawings and manufacturer requirements.
  5. Test, program, commission and record the final settings.
  6. Monitor performance and maintain the system through its service life.

Important: Final equipment selection, protection settings and compliance documentation require a site-specific assessment.
