Understanding Lithium Battery Capacity

Learn the difference between rated capacity, usable capacity, power output and backup duration.

Battery Storage Technical Guide

Engineering basis

Battery kWh describes stored energy; kW and allowable current describe instantaneous power. Usable energy must account for reserve state of charge, permitted depth of discharge, inverter losses, temperature and expected degradation.

Design and verification requirements

Check continuous and peak discharge capability, BMS-to-inverter compatibility, parallel or series limits, charge-rate limits, protection, isolation, ventilation, clearances and expansion rules. Runtime must be modelled against the real protected-load profile, not a single appliance rating.

MicroSec technical workflow

  1. Confirm the client objective and operating modes.
  2. Measure and document the site conditions and load profile.
  3. Complete the electrical and energy design.
  4. Install to approved drawings and manufacturer requirements.
  5. Test, program, commission and record the final settings.
  6. Monitor performance and maintain the system through its service life.

Important: Final equipment selection, protection settings and compliance documentation require a site-specific assessment.
